Payback at Crack Central

.....Cont'd

Well Now I'm In my new Room #611. Originally Ray Butcher, and Rickey Pierre from the Oakland Housing Authority signed me up for this room.. On each floor the rooms are alike ,located in the same positions throughout the hotel, except there are kitchens on three floors here. In my room, there is only one tenant adjacent to me, one below me , and one above me.

Mostly I have been having problems with the tenant above, the same tenant since I moved into this room a couple of years ago. First it started innocently enough, I had my stereo up. The guy from Rm. 711 (The room above me) came down to me room to ask me to turn it down (It wasn't that loud), I was a little rude to him, but I turned it down, and from there, it's been a power struggle.

I felt the guy is trying to control me, I could not play my stereo, at levels I used to enjoy and had never gotten many complaints about my stereo before. I'm aware of noise issues ,everyone likes peace and quiet,to enjoy the privacy of there rooms. But where does my rights begin and his end? He'd constantly complain about my stereo, but the guy always seemed to stay in his room 24 hours a day, he didn't work, he's an older white male, a polite ,soft spoken, big guy, so why didn't he get a life and quit bugging everyone about my stereo?

This guy probably logged in alot of complaints about me at the Oaks, concerning noise complaints. I want to say , that I feel that I am a fairly responsible person. I'm not the type of person with the loud stereo, blasting it without regard to others, although MANY other people in this Hotel tend to do that.

I'm sure during this time I complained to many people in management of this hotel. After Ray Butcher left, then the property manager here was Wayne English. I talked with him a number of times, I talked to people at Oakland Community Housing, (the people who own the Oaks Hotel and a number of other properties), first with a person named Randy Bakker, I've talked with her co-workers, ( they no longer work for Oakland Community Housing), I've written letters to the Housing Authority, to Rickey Pierre. I written letters to Jennifer Monseratt (their boss) of O.C.H. and many intermediaries of the Oakland Community Housing Management Company. They all promised action, but nothing that I ever know of was ever done. The time line isn't very accurate here but...

Things were getting worse between me and the tenant upstairs, for one, I couldn't really enjoy my stereo has I used to. Next he'd sometimes drop heavy objects on the floor at night when I am sleeping, disturbing my sleep. He'd thump loudly on the floor pretty regularly around 6:00- 7:30 am disturbing my early morning sleep. I didn't need the wake up call in the morning being that I am happily part-time employed, and don't need a wake up call to go to work in the morning, on the other hand this fellow doesn't work..So why was he disturbing my morning sleep all the time?. Could it be because he sleep in the morning and stays awake at night, so he wanted me to leave in the mornings?

The shit hit the fan, when I decided to confront this guy for waking me up in the mornings like that I resented it a lot, so I brought a baseball bat with me. All I wanted to do was for him to stop bothering me in the morning, or else! No serious physical altercation occurred, but I ended up spending two nights in Jail. I was lucky, it wasn't longer, or that I hadn't been charged with assault and battery which is a felony. This was as serious as it got, with other altercations involving the police. But I have never had any run-ins with the police, no police record and I had never been in jail before. What had happened at the Oaks, I had alot of serious thinking and action to do.
