HELP!

Well about a week ago, I was assaulted. Must have been Saturday the . I was planning to go over my mothers house, but I got my electric guitar and started to practice at the City Hall park.
A while later a adolescent girl African-American girl, who I had a run in with on the city bus, was getting in my face with some of her friends. What was she disturbing me about?

A few weeks earlier, I was riding over my mother house on the bus, I had a new digital camera, and I wanted to try it out by taking some photos of people on the back of the bus..Possibly to put on this website. The Kids mostly pressed out like a bunch of half ass fugitives. This one girl was one of those complaining the mostly, she was young not more than 20yrs, had two beady eyes and a bit of a goiter. I also sensed something wrong about her...Mental problem or something. Anyway, she objected the most to the camera, like as if I just wanted to take a picture of her, objected has if like its was a personal attack on her, then she got in my face threatening to take confiscate my camera..I objected to her getting in my space about this..But then the bus driver got in my face and asked me to leave the bus. No problem I left, no picture, out on the street. Screw the kids, I've been to places around the world where you cant keep kids away from a camera , except these kids In Oakland, they act like a bunch of pansies

I left it at that, my mistake, just mine your own business on the bus. I forgot about that girl. Then another time while riding the bus, that girl was on it talking up about it...I didn't say anything to her.

Then on Sat, Apr 9th. I went out to practice my guitar in the park. That girl showed up with friends.. Some pint size guys, , but more than one. Next she started calling me some kind of pervert and telling her brother that I wanted to take her picture and post it on the Internet. I didn't know want to say! I just wanted her to get out my face and go away..Instead her brother, (pint size decent looking bastard) spit in my face, next he punched me right in the nose. My nose was bleeding (broken)...Practice guitar in the park..And bleed. Next his buddy, a taller skinny guy in a white shirt, went after my equipment. He got my battery powered amp, and threw it up in the air, let it fall to the ground, I heard the sickening crunch of it breaking, cost me 125.00 for fought money.

I tried to chase after them to warn them away from my stuff..But it was too late..My amp was badly damaged. My nose was bleeding...Next the girl got in my face again and told'll me not to come back to the park again.
To the contrary..I thought, I'm going to call the police.
I went down to the Bart BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT station to talk with a station agent and use one of there phones to call the police. I did call the police and they were on there way, next I went to on of the station agents to get some help..They where pretty obtuse but helpful in that the guy warned me to stay there..But I knew the police where coming, and my property was still in the park. So I went back-up to gather my stuff..

I noticed my guitar was now gone... However my bike was still there and all my practices book where scattered out of the bag. I went to gather my stuff..And oddly enough that girl was still around. I told her I called the police, and they'd be on there way. I was standing on the stairs of the underground Bart station , then this girl grabbed my broked amp and held it over her head threatening to throw at me , or down the stairs...I was wondering if she was crazy enough to do that ...I must have took my eye off of her for a moment, the next thing was I was falling down stairs, my lip and mouth hurting. A little pint size girl..Not more than 16 yrs punched me in the mouth and sent me flying down stairs. I was able to walk up the stairs again still waiting for the police to arrive.
The girl still had that amp aimed at my head, and I could see that other pint size bitch. She was just a kid like most of them, I would have like to rip her head off. But what got my attention was the girl with the amp..She had STARTED the whole thing over N-O-T-H-G-I-N-G. I felt a little anger rise up..I wanted to throw her down the stairs to see how it would make her feel. I charged up and grabbed her..And in a bit of prodigious strength, I flipped her over so that now, her head was near the stairs and I was holding her feet. Her head was kind of crunched up on the stair ( it had to hurt), my next move was to smash the fuk out of her face with my feet. But she looked rather resigned down there ..As if I was going her a favor by breaking her neck. So I didn't and let her go.

The next thing I knew was a bunch of adolescents where running over..Friends of the girl where running over to kick my ass. I didn't want to face of bunch of them on the stairs got on the street so I ran into the BART station. I jumped over the railing into the station ..And yelled for help. One of the kids a big one with a red shirt was the first.. I decided to turn back to confront one of them. We were about to square off, he was big but I probably had more experiece fighting before..I was able to connect with a left to the chin, but then more attackers arrived..
I yelled for help, and was backing up into a fence isolating the first third of the station..Dead end. The guys were ganging up on me , throwing numerous punches to my head.. I yelled for help..and began to blackout as I heard

"Hey you stop that"..The sound of the Station Agent. Next I woke up in the emergency room of a hospital.

One of the things I mustn't forget was the lack of help from ordinary citizens. I took to practicing the guitar cause I wanted to bring joy and happiness to the world, and I wanted to provide a role model for kids. Based on the idea that they have to act to help make personal change and make the world a better place. But I got little help on my behalf.

During the melee in the Bart station..On person DID stop one of the kids from atta king me, briefly. He just went.."Hey, hey"..that got the kids attention, but then the kid said "Well he attacked my sister". I couldn't replay to that, I was beaten and bloody..but I couldn't say anything. All the guy did was give me a accusing look and walk away, and he was a brother? A big guy too.

Then when I was in the park, after the initial attack, a white man came walking down the way, I trying to get him to stop, to call 911. He terminated the call he was making but then he just seemed to ignore me.

Then there was the friendly security guard waiting one of the buildings, he came out, a young guy, I kept yelling at him if he had a phone that he could call 911, he kept yelling that he didn't hear me, then when I tried to approach he walked away.

Point for the women who stood around waiting as that girl picked up my amp and aimed it at my head...At least she had the guts to stick around.

Then someone stole my guitar, - my first electric guitar. I guess they didn't mind the music too much.

A horrible incident, makes me wish to get a concealed weapon, . IF I had one during that attack I think I would have been justified in using it. They were just kids mostly but that attack cost me one day in the emergency room, one day in the hospital and my vision is screwed up one week later, maybe permanently. I wanted to help people not hurt them ,that was the purpose of my guitar playing, I have issues with the adults, worth getting a gun or two, but I don't think its worth killing kids. Maybe its time to get out of Oakland.

Hey David,

What an awful story. I grew up in Marin County and never had to deal with violence like that. I'm sorry to hear about your guitar.

I'm a guitar teacher in Seattle and I've got a blog on my business website you might enjoy, if you're able to start playing again. It's mostly geared toward beginner and intermediate players. I recently posted an article "How To Practice" that you might like.

I've also got tons of songs that I've written out for my students here:

I hope you like the blog. Link to my site if you think you might be coming back, and leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Take care and I hope you heal ok,

Rob
