War on Terrorism

Hey Folks, Have you been listening to the news, heard some of this stuff about torture that the U.S is doing under the rubrick of fighting terrorism. But what are we fighting? If you talk to most people and experts about this question, "What are we fighting?" ,they may say; we are fighting international terrorism, we are fighting "Al Qaeda", We are fighting Islamic Extremism.
I think most of us would agree about the last one..."We are fighting Islamic extremism".
But hey look folks, isn't sponsoring torture, in a democratic society like ours, ...."Extremism"?
Well you could argue, Extremism in the defense of our liberties is no vice. But what good is it to fight an terror or enemy when WE are becoming more like the enemy we seek?
