Black History month!

February is black history month in the United States. Its becoming my favorite part of the year cause it helps me to remember why I'm here.

Its difficult to remind ourselves that these people are gone. What does Civil rights, The "Struggle" for African-Americans means nowadays? It seems to be a bunch of empty promises to African-Americans in which we should receive reparations, a paycheck for broken promises ,or missed opportunities and a failure of Black America to learn from the mistakes of the past and of from the history of other races. If you ask me. Everyone has got their hand out nowdays. Time to put our hand back in our pockets.

When I think about M.L.K. Jr., I think of the things he helped accomplished, and may have wanted to accomplish, initiative and Self-reliance for the Black community. I can't help but think if he were around today, he'd be somewhat disappointed. Black America has failed/or is failing to take advantage of the access and opportunity we had.

Its tragic to think about Corretta Scott King, though she lived a long life, raised her kids, she had to do it without her husband, Martin luther King Jr. Has it worth it, for her? Was the Civil rights gain made in the 60's, till today worth it? Looking at the state of Black America today you have to wonder. We fought just to be able to walk on the same side of the street as White folks, only till today, for some of us, to beg..On it.

If its one thing I fault Coretta Scott King was that I don't think she shared the same vision as her husband did. This is not a fault but most of the time she was around, I felt she didn't do much, as far as leading us, and trying to carry on with her husband's dream.
Her message seemed to be about "obedience" and Servitude". Things "Negroes" have been doing in this Country since its inception. A better message might be "Self-reliance and initiative". "Come'on lets get on with it"!

What can I say about Malcolm X, a black man who spoke his mind. Then discovered that Islam "is for all men", and the truth wasn't the sole property of any government, people or organization. He ended up being killed by the people he wanted to help, Shotgunned. When he spoke out maybe he should have related some of the faults of his self and maybe his own people. Some Black publication are full of people wanting to blame "the White man", blame the racist Society, but you don't find much in these publications on how Black America kill and destroys itself and what to do to stop it ? Maybe if Whitey throws enough money at us it will fix the problem, but what happens when they begin to run out of money?

Who,where will the next leader spring up? Who wants to be shot or widowed? Things I think about during this time. The Moral of the story; Its difficult, scary and downright dangerous to stand up for the truth or even stand up for your own rights. but maybe sometimes its necessary to make a stand. Or perhaps the "Moral of the Story" is that "life is a stage, and we are all its players". "Time does make fools of us all", but are there any values are worth living with today? We all have to struggle in our individual lives, there probably enough demons there that need to be slain. But no one wants to die, be hurt or maimed to do this, to take a stand, to stand up for there rights, athough alot of people felt this was necessary to do in the 60's to achieve there Civil Rights, to get the right to vote in this country, the right to be treated as Men and Women in this Country. This is a lesson we better not forget.

But to me thee certainly is a need for some kind of spiritual leadership in the Black community today although there are many churches and spiritual leaders out there...Maybe there are too many. Maybe that Leader is YOU!
