This is a ritual for a sort of "Self exorcism" by William G.Gray ,based on the Qabblistic tree of Evil, written in his book, "The Tree of evil".
" The essentials of the rite are these. Facing a material or mental image of the tree and its pillars, and armed with a Physical or imaginary sword symbol, the operator salutes the Tree with the sword by a circle-cross sign, saying:
In the name of Wisdom...............................(touch forehead)
And of the love........................................(touch heart)
And of the Justice............................(touch right shoulder)
And of the infinite Mercy......................(touch left shoulder)
Of the one Eternal Spirit.......................(clockwise complete circle covering those points and finish center)
Amen....................................(join hands prayer position)
Then with the sword in the "rest" position, point down ,proclaim:
Throughtout the whole of me
May evil banished be.
Negated into nil
According to my will.
Let good come in return
Until at least I learn
My perfect way of life
Above all inner strife.
All this rite should be taken on a slow, careful and very deliberate note, except perhaps the next section when the challenge to evil is exclaimed somewhat triumphantly:
O fatal pillars. Evil three.
I break your bondage, and I am free (sword gesture accordingly)
Coerced, Compelled, Condemned no longer.
Hard as you hold, my will is stronger.
The triple pillars I acclaim
As worthy to uphold my name
Are those of Mercy-discipline
With moderation in between.
The sword is now brought up to the "carry" position, and the instruction boldly stated:
Now be my way made clear
In every vital sphere
As step by step I tread
my paths to light ahead.
Here the sword is used to point sphere by sphere from bottom to top of the Tree as each is called in turn. As evil is directed out,the sword is pulled back and pointed upwards as if it had literally picked the named evil out of the sphere and were flicking it off the point into NIL. As the good is invoked, the sword is pointed back to the sphere as if carefully conveying that particular quality there under guard. Then the sword is brought back to "carry" position in front of body centrally. Except where otherwise indicated, this action applies to all spheres commencing with the tenth.
10...Materialism--fly
.....My kingdom is no lie.
9....Unstable living--cease.
.....Foundation firm--increase.
8....Let greed in me decline
.....That glory may be mine.
7....May lust in me be dead.
.....And Victory live instead.
6....Ugliness--depart.
.....Rule,beauty,in my heart.
5....Cruelty be done
.....And discipline begun.
4....Apathy--away.
.....Compassion ever stay.
Here the abyss is addressed while the sword is held across it and the edgeways crossing imagined.
Be abyss of the lost
By knowledge safely crossed.
The sphere action continues;
3....Antipathy must go
.....And understanding flow.
2....Be stupidity rejected
.....As wisdom is elected.
1....Atheism--never.
.....My spirit lives for ever.
All is now directed into the "Infinite indefinite" above and the sword waved slightly from side to side in an "opening" gesture.
0.... Be darkness put to flight
......By perfect living light
......So mote this be. Amen.
Sword back to "carry". The pronouncement is made--and meant:
There is no Evil in me still
Which lingers but because I will.
Yet good in me increases
While latent evil ceases.
The sword is now rested, and a real inner attempt is made to rise toward the highest and finest point of Individual identity imaginable:
Now let me rise of right
Toward my highest light
Where my real self is found
In perfect peace profound.
Here is silence and stillness for as long as may be needed to establish and recognize consciousness with the contact sought. There is no point prolonging the period past its effective peak. Then the Tree is saluted with the sword briskly and the conclusion stated confidently and firmly:
So may it be with me.
Set forth upon my tree
That I shall live to be
My true identity.
Here (if known) the operator's "magical name" may be mentally formulated. Then the rite is closed with the circle-cross gesture:
In the name of the Wisdom ....................(touch forehead)
And of the love...............................(touch heart)
And of the Justice............................(touch right shoulder)
And of the Infinite Mercy ....................(touch left shoulder)
Of the one Eternal Spirit.....................(clockwise complete circle covering those points and finish center)
Amen....................................(join hand prayer position)"
