One of the first girls I met at Princeton. She was a secretary at the Operation Crossroads Africa staff. A nice girl. She said she was very impressed with me, as I got alot of people to send money in for me on my fundraising for this trip. I felt like a rabbit caught in an oncoming cars headlights. Maybe she felt like that too.

The big ornate cathedral on the Princeton Campus.

A closer look at some of the cathedral. I had some pictures of the inside of the cathedral but I'll have to find them. The Stained glass is what you'd expect for a church like this.

One of the group members for our trip to the Sudan, Carmella her name was. When it comes to women, I'm a retard, as sadly on this trip...I didn't find any nooky, though there was plenty to be had. I was totally green.

A party being had here by Operation Crossroads members. Each person here was going to a different place in Africa, and there were some Africans here as host of there country, who where staying here. I'll never forget that smooth, funky "African" R&B music we were dancing to.

Below are some of the members of our group to the Sudan.
Kelly from University of Notre Dame, ( left to right) Me from the California Conservation Corps, Suzzane? from Notre Dame, and Curtis ( Notre Dame). I guess I was popular with some of the participants cause there was a big deal for some of us African-Americans about going to Africa. The Host from Sudan who wore a big headress called a "Gol -lad- be-ya" and looked like a darker version of Omar Shariff, said he was very proud to be from Sudan, and he recommended that we should all go to Sudan as "Americans". I agreed since I got the feeling that our group leader 'Lauren" wanted to go to Africa just to eat watermelon with the rest of the Africans, cause it was the black thing to do. Really, me and Lauren just played chess alot..
Members of our group (left to right) Girl in yellow hat, Leslie from Notre Dame, Jeff from West point, Lauren Banner ( group leader in white), Kieran from Notre Dame and sitting down that's..gosh I forget her name.

Below, another picture at the Airport and surrounding Crossroaders. In the Center left to right. Leslie in Yellow, Kelli, Carmella and that girl in blue. Were getting ready to leave Via Air France.

Voila! here we are In Paris , France, in a Subway. A stop- over to Africa. Us group members got off the plane in Paris and took alook around in Paris. I don't speak French, a big handicap in France.

Below,on the streets of Paris, France near the "Arc de triumph". Doesn't Hitler know this place? It rememinded me alittle of Downtown San Francisco, California in the U.S.A, with all the open air spaces

More of Paris. I almost got lost here in Paris, and it didn't help that I didn't speak French. Little did I know I should have stayed here!

The "Arc de Triumph". One of the only major sights I saw here in our three hour layover in Paris.

Didn't Hitler tour this place?

Below, after a brief layover in Cairo, Egypt, we are now in Sudan...Welcome. I slept outdoors, here over night in this Youth Hostel. It was really a bummer at first , I thought this was where our three week stay was going to take place....It wasn't! But the first night I slept on my sleeping bag, and used my water purification tablets in the water. The water then tasted like bleach. Before we went to orientation , crossroaders had to get a full spectrum of vaccinations, Yellow fever to Cholera, and we were started on anti-Malarial medicines. To be cont...
