A great new album

I discovered a terrific Album. I don't normally listen to "World" music, but I happen to happen upon this while listen to a college radio station. With my radio on and after a good nights rest,I woke up on a Sunday morning hearing on of the song (Ghanwah Bossanova) from this Album . Wow, who was this woman with the beautiful soft, sultry voice..Singing to nice arraignments? Even if the song was in Arabic, its STILL sounded good, though I don't speak or understand Arabic well at all.
After some determination ,I got through to the radio station and discovered the name of the artist and song, Natacha Atlas, the song "Ghanwah Bossanova". Ghanwah Bossanova is a mixture of Middle eastern type arraignments and Singing with a Bossanova beat...a winning deal, after listening to the song quite a number of times on my MP3 player I stopped in a music store. Bought the album , just curious as to what the rest of the album was like..Spending money I shouldn't have..

When I got it home to listen to it..What a surprise! All the tracks are great, some of them are spoken in English, in American "rap" style in an African/Middle Eastern flavor. I'd rate this album as a "rare" find, rating it a 10+. Though I'm a guy I'd rate this album as "Orgasmic" The main Artist Natacha Atlas does some songs with a lady called "'Princess Julianna, whom I've never hear of.... "Ghanwah bossanova" is maybe the most commercial track on the album, the others are as good or better, I even liked the rap stuff..and I'm not normally into rap. the music gets alittle 'like "gum buble" with plenty of estrogen but the album is saved by the excellent instrumentals throughout the whole album.

Another interesting experience while going into the Virgin MegarecordStore, in S.F. While looking in the Middle Eastern section of the "World" music section..just minutes after I decided to buy the album, thanks to the adroit saleslady, I was leaving the store and just as I was leaving, some funny looking police officers go upstairs to the "World" music floor. The patches on their shirt said "Homeland Security".

I didn't know Homeland Security, had a police force (Gestapo)..or maybe that was just the name of a security guard company of armed officers...But I got paranoid. Were the Homeland Security police summoned cause I was up there buying a album in the Middle Eastern section of a record store? After all I was carrying a backpack ( could have been a bomb), I listen to recording, "The God pt2" where Bono talks about, 'an Uzi going off in his hands"... maybe they thought I was carrying a Uzi, maybe the whole thing was chance, but do Arabs in this country have to go through this?

Anyway I've done a bad thing I put one of the recordings of Natacha Atlas, from the album I bought (Mish Maoul). I wanted to include 'Ghanwah Bossanova" its a bit long and you should buy the album to hear it yourself, I used a shorter track called "Hayati Inta", and its good also. Why not invite the Homeland Security police to your house also. I've found a country I'd like to visit...Morocco in Africa, or berhaps Brussels.

Anyway I've changed the selection. I've been listening to "Hayati Inti" so much I think you should hear it too. Its a WMA format so if you cant play Windows Media Files, then you might be out of luck, also the files is 3 megs big so if you have a dial up modem like I do , this song could take a while to download. Good luck!
