My smoking gun

Well, I'm back to the reason why I stated this blog. I wanted to make a record of events occurring with me at my stay at the Oaks Hotel and events surrounding it. This was the place that started my present difficulties, where I was being harassed by a troll ( older sexual predator) with approval of the management there.

After trying to get some publicity, Which consisted of publicly carrying a protest sign and protesting around Municipal,State and Federal buildings. I was encouraged to file a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. They did some things basically that worked in getting the management of the Oaks Hotel to change my room, but by signing a conciliation agreement I signed away my rights to prosecute to hotel further on that matter. I thought hopefully I wouldn't have reason to prosecute the hotel further being that the problem was mainly with that tenant in Rm 711 at that time. I was wrong.

The new room was an improvement, but the harassment got Hot an Heavy, tenants near by, some who were white, would encourage me to "'go see " this fellow in 711. Most of the people in this hotel were getting some kind of government assistance, had drug or addiction problems, unemployed or maybe had some problems with the criminal justice system.

There is a certain amount of drug activity going on around the hotel, so next I'd have these people off the street, that frequented the area talking outside the property making threats.. "like you better punk'em or we going to hurt, we going to hurt your mother too.."

Well in the Black community, those are fighting words, but my arms are short against organized thugs with guns and money and my loved ones nearby. I tried complaining to the California Fair, Housing and Employment whose office in the State building is just a few yards away.

They didn't take my complaint seriously..as I didn't have any names, nor specific faces, none the less the California Dept of Fair employment and housing says in there brochure..

"The mission of the Department of Fair Employment and Housing is to protect the people of California from unlawful discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations, and from perpetration of acts of hate violence."

After many complaint to the Dept about further harassment, and letters to public official...nothing much further was done. Hurricane katrina hit New Orleans, our Property manager Katrice left her job at the Oaks, I decided to try to there as well seeing the writing on the wall, I didn't move far enough away.

Around Nov 2005, I moved to another nearby SRO called the "Madrone" hotel. Near Chinatown, and near the police station. Its a quiet hotel ..on the outside but I'm suffering the same type of harassment here, one tenant would tries to solicit me for some like of sex, but mostly tenants here push me back to the Oaks to engage that fellow in Rm. 711!. The solictations of this new fellow upstairs resulted in a violent physical confrontation. The threats are vociferous, and it seems I run into few people with understanding enough to perceive whats going on. Mostly the people here were intensely gossipy , seeming to talk about my issues to the point here I lack a great amount of privacy here.
At the same time I'm really afraid to leave here, not only leaving a decent job, I've held for many years, but my mother and my siblings live here also, and some threats were directed at them.

So at this point, after a bad dream... I've decided to make use of this space and I want to post some of the letters I've written concerning complaints I've made writing to some public officials in California concerning my complaint for what good this will do at least it will be public record.
