Payback at Crack central...cont

Okay where was I. Basically I'm fighting a type of sexual harassment that's going on at a particular residential hotel, "The Oaks Hotel". These people wanted to whore me to a particular Big Irish fellow in the Room above me in #711, rumor had it that his guys was some kind of clergy or even a pedophile. The harassment is mostly verbal, from the guy in 711, it manifested as verbal tauts, propositions and threats..that I could hear coming from his room to mine. Also this sexual harassment manifested by the management of the Oaks by refusing to change my room when they knew about this state of affairs and recently by the other tenants of the Hotel.

After failing to find adequate legal representation to fight this problem, I decided to seek some publicity to deal with the problem. I protested outside the building with a picket sign. This hotel is situated downtown, near City Hall, Federal and State offices. Camera trucks and media types hang out at the park at City Hall. I picketed outside the State buildings, Federal building and City Hall with my picket sign and I printed up some flyers to give to people. This got the attention of a lot of people, The Mayor got a flyer...I sent some to State representatives, and Federal ones. But mostly it got the attention of a State employee of the California Department of Fair Housing and Employment.

With this employees help, I was able to timely file a complaint of discrimination to the California department of Fair Housing and Employment. So, okay the ball was rolling. I was told by the Rep at the State FH/E that first they would request records from the landlord concerning my case, then also they would act as a mediator..and try to make a agreement with the Hotel and me based on California law. If that didn't work they would prosecute the landlord if they found evidence in my favor. Fucking Hurray!!

Within a month of signing the printed complaint..I heard from the investigator for my case, "Gwen Richardson". At first it didn't look good for any mediation because ? Possibly because the Property manager for Oakland Community Housing "Michael Liebe" was on administrative leave..Permanent , I'm sorry to say. He was nice enough to invite me into his office for a chat..when I protested by office. During the chat he was nice and pleasant enough, took some notes about my complaint, but pointed out that the Oakland Community Housing had a rule about transferring tenants from different rooms in the Hotel. I looked at him as he said this.. and I got the impression that he was saying .."look you are going to have to cooperate with us, and Mr Gilbertus ( 711)..."you are going to have to service him, there no way out." With that we concluded our meeting, I was grateful to get access into his office my means of my protest, but there was and is no way that I was going to tolerate any more of 711..and the Oaks policy be dammed. I continued my picketing and then got the attention of the California FE/H.

I found out later in the case that Michael was no more...the umpteenth property manager that left the Oakland community housing management company since I moved into the Oaks.

When the complaint was represented officially to the Oaks management...I then was requested to present a chronology of events with any records or documents I might have. This was not an easy request to fill, cause while I did keep documents about the Oaks, I felt I didn't have any controvertible evidence..my timeline might not have been very accurate. I managed to submit my paperwork in a timely manner, but I beginning to wonder if I was going to win this case based on any evidence. Listening or being grilled by Gwen Richardson, diminished my enthusiam that I might win.. And it was her who intiallly told me that the Hotel management wouldn't not mediate with me.....so there was no hope of any mediation agreement at that time.
