My Middle East solution

You gotta laugh a bit at the pathelic attempt this Bush administration is making at attempting a peaceful solution in Israel/Palestine, and its funny that I should suggest a solution when I can hardly manage my own affairs. But it seems to me that this administration is barking up the wrong tree by attempting a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine. I don't think a two state solution is going to work. If Palestine even does develop into a Country or a State, aren't they going to want some kind of Militia? Will there neighbor Israel allow this? My guess is probably not. They'll will never be peace between the two in a two state solution.

So, I've got this idea, based on the movie "Gandhi". I call it the "Gandhi solution". There was a scene in "Gandhi" where Gandhi was mediating between a Hindu and a Pakistani, this was just after a united India, split off and broke into a Hindu "India and a Moslem "Pakistan". Both of the two men Gandhi was talking to had committed atrocities cause of the break up...well look here is part of the screenplay from the movie I'm talking about..."Attenboroughs" Gandhi".

NAHARI: Eat! I am going to hell ? but not with your death on my soul.
GANDHI: Only God decides who goes to hell . . .
NAHARI (stiffening, aggressive): I ? I killed a child . . . (Then an anguished defiance) I smashed his head against a wall. Gandhi stares at him, breathless.
GANDHI (in a fearful whisper): Why? Why?

It is as though the man has told him of some terrible self-inflictedwound.

NAHARI (tears now ? and wrath): They killed my son ? my boy!Almost reflexively he holds his hand out to indicate the height of his son. He glares at Suhrawardy and then back at Gandhi.
NAHARI: The Muslims killed my son . . . they killed him.

He is sobbing, but in his anger it seems almost as though he means to kill Gandhi in retaliation. A long moment, as Gandhi meets his pain and wrath. Then

GANDHI: I know a way out of hell.Nahari sneers, but there is just a flicker of desperate curiosity.
GANDHI: Find a child ? a child whose mother and father have been killed. A little boy ? about this high.He raises his hand to the height Nahari has indicated as his son's.
GANDHI: . . . and raise him ? as your own.Nahari has listened. His face almost cracks ? it is a chink of light, but it does not illumine his darkness.
GANDHI: Only be sure . . . that he is a Muslim. And that you raise him as one.

And now the light falls on Nahari. His face stiffens, he swallows, fighting any show of emotion; then he turns to go. But he takes only a step and he turnsback, going to his knees, the sobs breaking again and again from his heaving body as he holds his head to Gandhi's feet in the traditional greeting of Hindu son to Hindu father.A second, and Gandhi reaches out and touches the top of his head.

This seems a good a of solving a difficult problem. Like in two States "Israel and Palestine". Atrocities have been committed my both sides, how can they develop a lasting peace?...by developing two separate entities...NO..cause there have been to many atrocities committed by both sides among other things.

My Solution... One State. Merge Palestine into Israel so that it becomes one State. Then maybe call that land " New Israel" however giving the Palestinians rights has full citizens, and a stake in participating and developing policies and laws throughout that land. I think this is a much better solution then developing a two state Land. How come the Bush administration is not doing this is a bit of puzzlement. Maybe there just pursuing peace in the Middle East in name only, perhaps its not a priority to that that there should be peace between Israel and Palestine.

Why in the good lord's name should the state of Israel mzerge with those who over the years have tried to eliminate it? Israel was legally created. So too there might have been a Palestinian state but the Arabs chose not to and attacked Israel.
I am amazed that you, who do not live in the region should tell a country, pround of its achievements, tomerge with those who would destroy that nation...want to give away a nation, begin with yourown.

Well, I think there are legitimate claims and assertions for both sides. The real probelm is dealing with deep rooted hate. A one State solution is got to be better than a Two state solution. If Palestine is allowed independance. Then do they get to have a Miltia? How would Israelis feel about a Armed soveriegn Palestian state? In my opinion they wouldn't like it. In order to avoid these probelms maybe they should just merge the land/people...like what I said previously in my Blog..It's the only way Israel is going to survive in my opinion, otherwise I would fear that eventually in the future Israel would be somehow destroyed.
